I love how you brought up the subjectivity of experience. "One man’s cabbage is another man’s caviar" is such a perfect title for this piece! It’s so true that our best and worst times are felt internally and interpreted subjectively. It’s like we all live in our own little bubbles, and what feels like a mountain to me might be a molehill to someone else, and vice versa. Your point about memory being subjective is fascinating too. I've noticed that when I recall certain events, my memory of it changes slightly each time. I guess it really is true that we're recalling the last time we remembered it, rather than the actual event itself. It makes you wonder how much of our "reality" is just our own personal interpretation and reconstruction. Great food for thought!
I fear, Alexander, that the vast majority if not every aspect of our reality is down to our personal interpretation - that life ultimately reflects our internal state. Bit of a scary thought for me but one I've been pondering for some time now
I resonate with what you’ve been through. Even though everyone’s experience is different, the trauma and heartache can feel like living in a nightmare.
I admire your positive attitude in learning from this experience and using it to better equip yourself. Thanks for sharing your story.
Thank you, Robin. We really have no choice but to learn from these tough times otherwise we go on to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. Sorry to hear that you too have had your own challenges
I love this mindset and I'm happy for you that this is how you choose to move forward ❤️ I also just posted a note of an excerpt from my book about using the past to think and act better. Thank you for sharing this 🙏🏽
